Provision of SATCOM Engineering Support Services

Location: Braine-l’Alleud, Belgium (Transitioning to Brussels or Mons, BE)

Duties & Roles:

  • Project Proposal Development: Lead technical proposal development for ground segment mid-life upgrades and SATCOM Anchor Station enhancements. Conduct RF/IF chain performance analyses (gain, noise figure, ripple, phase noise), assess terminal/network architectures, and define solution trade-offs.
  • Feasibility Studies: Conduct the North American SATCOM Anchoring Study, including hard filter criteria, Courses of Action evaluation models, site data structures, and cost/risk assessments.
  • Antenna & Site Technical Specifications: Define functional and technical requirements for medium-size dual-band (X/Ka) antennas and assess site readiness (foundations, power, radomes, waveguide runs).
  • Governance & Reporting: Maintain risk registers, generate monthly SATCOM Engineering Reports, conduct root-cause technical issue analyses, and coordinate directly with ACT, ACO, and NCIA leads.

Skill, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Education: University degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, SATCOM Engineering, or related field with 2 years of experience, or Higher Vocational Training with 5 years of experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Minimum 3 years of practical experience in SATCOM systems (UHF/SHF domains). Deep knowledge of link budgets, modulation schemes, RF engineering, antenna propagation, DVB-S2/S2X standards, MIL-STD-188, and SATCOM cybersecurity.
  • Operations & Frameworks: Familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN) in SATCOM, service management processes (ITSM), and modern military communication interfaces.
  • Language & Clearance: English proficiency at minimum C1 level. A valid NATO Secret security clearance is mandatory.
