Transformation Area Lead

Location: NATO Headquarters in Brussels, BE

Duties & Roles:

  • Transformation Leadership: Lead the coordination, steering, and delivery oversight of priority initiatives across cloud adoption, data integration, and AI enablement. Ensure strategic and technical alignment across the enterprise. Embed within the Capability Coherence Section to manage roadmaps and governance.
  • Project & Portfolio Management: Direct multiple projects and workstreams. Manage dependencies, timelines, resourcing assumptions, and delivery risks. Realize value by aligning roadmaps with agreed mandates.
  • Roadmap Development: Build and maintain an integrated transformation roadmap mapping milestones, releases, and decision points. Manage cross-program technical, operational, procurement, and security dependencies to reduce risk and accelerate cloud/AI adoption.
  • Stakeholder & Governance Support: Engage with senior leaders, business owners, and program teams to maintain momentum. Support and coordinate relevant boards and committees (such as the Cloud Strategy Group). Facilitate problem-solving workshops and develop executive-ready briefings or decision support papers.
  • Risk & Compliance Assurance: Identify risks and ensure required compliance, security, and accreditation activities (e.g., Security Accreditation of CIS) are executed.

Skill, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience: 8+ years of senior experience leading digital transformation initiatives (portfolio/program leadership) in highly secure, complex government, military, or critical infrastructure environments. 8+ years in senior management positions with significant accountability for budgets, teams, and outcomes.
  • Commercial & Technical Acumen: Proven ability to manage complex industry contracts and commercial delivery governance. Strong business acumen with the capability to translate strategy into executable roadmaps.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills in English, with a track record of producing executive-grade written deliverables and presenting complex topics clearly.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Project/program management certifications (PMP/PMBOK, PRINCE2, MSP). Knowledge of IT governance (COBIT), ITIL-based service management, and organizational change management. Experience with on-premise datacenters, air-gapped cloud computing, data platforms (governance, products, quality), and responsible AI practices. Knowledge of NATO Security Accreditation Policy is highly desired.
  • Clearance: A valid NATO Secret security clearance is mandatory.
